Welcome! I’m so happy you’re here.
As an anxious perfectionist and workaholic using alcohol daily to manage stress and social anxiety, to a sobriety coach, speaker, and creator of Lighthouse Sobriety.
I reached the final stage of my addiction at the age of 31. I justified my drinking for many years because I didn’t “look” like your typical alcoholic. I was what we call a “high functioning, closet alcoholic”. Many perfectionists out there might relate. I did my drinking at home, hiding bottles around the house so my husband wouldn’t find out. On the outside I appeared that I had it all together, but I was physically and mentally collapsing.
From intense anxiety, drinking mouthwash on the regular to hide the immense shame of walking into a liquor store, blacking out daily and on the verge of losing almost everything… I knew my time was limited unless I quit.
I checked into my third inpatient treatment after detox, knowing deep down that this was it. This time it was different. I had blown a .34 and I was done. I didn’t WANT to drink anymore. And I want to show you how to reach that conclusion too. I followed every recommendation I was given and slowly rebuilt my life. I've been where you are and I reclaimed my life. A better life. And you can too.
Through my seven years of recovery, I value the importance of taking care of your health in recovery: your physical health AND your mental health. Because I fully believe that when you move your body, you process emotions through your body. From the immediate endorphin rush, to boosting our self-confidence, and making us feel good, exercise also helps our brains recover from decades of drinking. It rebuilds brain tissue + creates new neurons to transmit information, as well as eliminates cravings.
I want you to know that there is absolutely NO SHAME in not being able to drink an addictive drug responsibly. And I’ll share with you the best tools for you to reclaim YOUR life. Tactile, tangible advice from someone who has been in your shoes. Who gets it. I hope by sharing what I’ve learned, you will come to that conclusion faster.
If you can quit drinking, there is NOTHING you can’t do.
